Playing Phil Mickelson 2005
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The game will
present a bird’s
eye view of
the hole that
you are playing
along with
yardage to the
hole and par.
|
An orientation
screen appears
that displays line
of sight, stroke
and par. The red
triangle shows
you the hole
location in the
distance.
|
To plan your shot,
push up and down
on the directional
pad to choose
your clubs or left
and right to aim
your shot. You
may toggle
between this
screen and the
next. Pay
attention to
the wind force
and direction as
it will affect
your shot.
|
It takes (3) left
button presses
to execute a
good swing with
Natural Controls.
The better you
time the button
presses to
coincide with
the flashing
targets, the
more accurate
the swing. You
may change
clubs and aim
with the
directional pad
|
If you planned
your shot
correctly,
considering
wind and rain,
and hit the
swing targets
accurately, the
ball should land
and bounce to
where you
wanted. Missing
the swing targets
will cause you to
hook or slice.

Advanced Gameplay and Options
|
|
|
Using the Advanced Controls
|
|
|
|
Advanced Controls allow you to drive the ball further with Power Drives.
Your swing has to be accurate to empower these drives. In Tournament Mode,
to compete for Leader Board placement, Advanced Controls are mandatory.
Advanced Controls also allow you to put spin on the ball, giving you the
capacity to execute those tricky shots.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
You may toggle the contact point (where the golf club meets the ball,
illustrated by the red dot) with the keypad numbers shown to create
spin on the ball.
2 creates forward spin and a closer to the ground drive with bounce
and travel
4 creates a clockwise spin which will make the ball go right but then
fade left
6 creates a counter clockwise spin which makes the nall go left but
then fade right
5 creates a backward spin that pops ball higher in the air and sticks
when it lands.
When swinging the club The (0) ,(*) and (#) keys are utilized in the
following sequence:
0 Starts the swing
# - Ends the wind-up
* - Times the contact with the ball

1. Learn and master the Advanced Controls. With Advanced Controls you can control your
shots more accurately to allow you to perform those stroke saving tricky shots as well as get
more distance with your swing with Power Drives.
2. Play close attention to the wind and make allowances for the affect it will have on the ball.
3. When it’s raining, the ball will stick more when it lands. Plan your shots accordingly.
4. On some holes, it is easy to inadvertently hit it out of bounds. Don’t keep repeating the
same shot and drive your score up. Instead, choose a different lay up and shoot accordingly.
5. Sometimes, overshooting your shots will get you closer to where you want to be.
Try aiming beyond where you want the ball to end up.
|
|
|
|
In order to compete for online Leader Board placement, you must have a data plan
and internet access. If you do not have internet access, you can still play Tournament
mode for top scores on your phone.
